2023 Ferrari Monza SP1
2023 Ferrari Monza SP1 | St. Louis MO
Elegance and refinement in a pencil stroke. The 2023 Ferrari Monza SP1 is seemingly sculpted by the wind. This sports car single-handedly encapsulates the purity of the styling elements and a sense of the future and all that is possible while also paying tribute to the past. Together with the Monza SP2, the SP1 is the first in a new concept of limited series "Icona" (icon) cars, which taps into a leitmotif of the most evocative cars in Ferrari history to create a new segment of special limited series cars for clients and collectors. The goal is to use a modern aesthetic to reinterpret a timeless style with world-class technologically advanced components and the highest performance possible through continuous innovation. The Icona has a direct link with history - is where modern aesthetic is used to reinterpret a timeless style. The SP1 is a single-seater (while the SP2 has two seats), with the driver's position situated on one side of the car. The SP1 has no windows or roof – and it also has no windshield. Instead, it has what the Italian automaker calls a "virtual windshield."
In the place of a glass windshield or screen, Ferrari has developed an airflow system that carries out the same function as a windshield. As the car moves, the air is sucked in through the large intake at the front of the car, then channeled to an upwards-facing vent that's located in front of the driver's seat, creating the barrier. With an eye to the future, the SP1's technologically advanced components bring the highest performance possible thanks to continuous innovation. Both cars are a roofless, windowless roller skate based on the 812 Superfast. Only 499 models will be built - and they are already sold out. The SP1's stunning bodywork is inspired by the 750 Monza and 860 Monza racing cars of the mid-1950s, referenced in the voluptuous front wing curves, abrupt rear buttresses, and unusual seating. Every inch of the coachwork is carbon fiber, perfectly bespoke. The 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine is front-mid-mounted and similar to that found in the Ferrari 812 Superfast but with 10 additional horsepower bringing the total to 801 horsepower and 530 lb-ft of torque. It will get you from zero to 60 in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 186 mph. It's a historical car that exists solely for you, the driver.
